About SJN (Study Japanese with the News)
This blog is aimed at those who have a little extra time to spend learning a few words from actual news articles written in Japanese and translated (by me) into English. The blog requires a standard knowledge of at least hiragana and katakana, and is mostly to help you improve your vocabulary -helping you learn the kanji, reading and meanings in English.
The blog is also a way for me to practice my translation and also for my own personal studies.
About the Blogger
I'm Michael. Although originally from the UK, I currently live in Saitama, Japan. Saitama prefecture is in the same region as Tokyo, in fact it's neighbours with Tokyo. Many people like Saitama as it's not as over-populated as Tokyo (though the trains at rush hour etc. are still hectic), is close to Tokyo, while still having lots of things to do locally too.
I'm an English teacher by day, and games programmer by night. Translation is a new hobby, aiding in my own Japanese studies.
Thanks for reading,
Michael.
